St. Rufino is, for everybody, "the other" Saint in Assisi.
He was Bishop of the city of Amasia in the Ponto and, after various vicissitudes, it came alone to preach the Gospel to Assisi the first Bishop becoming of it.
He was martyred in 238 drowned (probably near to Costano) with a stone to the neck in the river Chiascio.
From the place of the martyrdom its body was now transported where by the believers up to the point the cathedral it rises to Him devoted and where, according to the tradition, he still preserves under the most greater altar
